How To Steal The Groove From Any Loop

This video demonstrates a technique in *Cubase Pro* for extracting the rhythmic feel, or "groove," from any audio loop and applying it to other tracks.

Key steps include:

  • Extracting Hit Points**: By opening a loop in the sample editor, you can adjust hit points to identify the specific rhythmic elements like kicks or rim shots.
  • Creating a Groove Preset**: Once the hit points are refined, you can save them as a custom quantize preset.
  • Applying the Groove**: You can then select this new preset in the quantize panel to apply the "rhythmic DNA" of the original loop to other MIDI or audio tracks, giving your arrangement a more organic, human, or soulful feel.

This workflow is highly versatile, allowing producers to borrow the performance characteristics of real drummers, percussionists, or even guitarists to make their tracks sound less robotic.
